We are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic 1-1 Learning Support Assistant to work with the class teacher to support the needs of a pupil with SEN. Hours of work: This is a term-time, fixed term contract initially until 4th April 2025, with possibility of extension. Term time only – 39 weeks a year - 24 hours per week – 8.30am to 3.15pm – Monday to Thursday.
Salary range: £21,920 - £22,442 FTE (£12,682 - £12,984 pro rata) - £11.68 - £11.96 per hour pending cost of living increase in December 24 backdated to September 24.
A typical day in the life of a teaching assistant:
- Assisting the teacher in supporting children with special education needs, in line with advice from statutory and specialist sources.
- Supporting children with neurodiversity.
- Preparing learning materials and setting up equipment.
- Use of visuals to support learning and routines.
- Contributing, where appropriate, to any discussion of pupils needs and progress.
- Making sure the learning environment is safe.
- Support pupil activities and behaviour.
- Participate in any relevant staff development activities.
- Assist in meeting the children’s needs for encouragement and reassurance.
- Liaising with parents.
- Following safeguarding policy and procedures.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of working with children with SEN.
- A calm, friendly manner and the ability to build rapport with pupils.
- Great verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- A commitment to equality and inclusion.
- The ability to reflect on and develop their own practice with support from colleagues and the Learning Partner Trust CPD programme.
