I was privileged to attend the Guildford school music festival yesterday evening at G-live.  A group of our children sang with a combined choir from eight primary schools across Guildford and a small group of children played in the joint orchestra. It was a wonderful performance and fantastic for our school to be able to take part in a collaborative event once more. I was very proud of our children who sang, read and played their instruments to a very high standard. They were patient during the lengthy rehearsals and their behaviour was excellent at all times.

Special thanks to Miss Ramsay for working with them to support and prepare them for this performance.

Accelerated reader; As a school- since the beginning of the year – we have read 66,588,171 words!

So far this year we have celebrated 16 children becoming Millionaire Readers. To become a word millionaire, pupils have to read one million words and pass the relevant accelerated reader quizzes.

We now have four children who are multi-millionaires. Which means they have read over two million words since the start of the academic year.

We are so impressed with the children’s home reading efforts. Thank you for your support with this.

This week is World Book week, and we are taking the opportunity to turn the spotlight once more on reading. We are always looking for ways to support children to become engaged with reading and become lifelong readers. It was a pleasure visiting classrooms on Monday morning and sharing the children's delight in their stories to start book week. Year 3 – “The Misadventures of Frederick” by Ben Manley, Year 4 – “Bog Baby” by Jeanne Millward, Year 5 – “The True Story of the three little pigs” by Jon Scieszka and Year 6 – “Dinosaurs and all that rubbish” by Michael Foreman.
