Newsletter Autumn 2

As we come to the end of a wonderfully busy autumn term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on just how jam-packed the past half-term has been with rich with a great range of experiences for our children.

We have been treated to fantastic performances in our Christmas productions, showcasing not only talent but also our values of Ambition, Bravery and Compassion. Alongside this, pupils have enjoyed hands-on science workshops, cricket sessions, and many have taken part in sporting competitions and matches. West Surrey Partnership has provided support with reading to some of our Year 6 children and many year groups have been on trips such as Year 6 visiting The British Museum. The children have also taken part in Nurture Week, Santa and Reindeer runs – raising money for local charities, and most recently our infants were treated to Cats Grin Theatre performance, which was a magical way to round off the term. The junior children will be rounding off the term with a festive carol service at Emmanuel Church.

We are very grateful to them and to our wonderful Friends and the NST for their tireless fundraising efforts. Activities such as the Christmas raffle, providing refreshments at events and selling Wonka bars mean we’re able to provide more workshops and resources for the children to enjoy.

Looking ahead to next term, after the break we will be introducing Reading Tuition. I am delighted to report that every available slot has been filled. Thank you for supporting this new venture. All families on the waiting list will be offered first refusal of a session in the second half of the spring term. Towards the end of January, we will be inviting families to book places for the February to April sessions, so please do keep an eye out for further information.

Our SENCOs, Becky Arnell and Jo Heicks, have also put together some helpful information for families on supporting children who experience anxiety or who are neurodiverse over the Christmas break. We hope you find this guidance reassuring and useful.

Finally, our Year Leaders have included an information page for each year group, outlining the curriculum coverage for the next half-term, what the children will be reading (NM), and some practical hints and tips for supporting learning at home. We hope you find this useful.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. I wish you and your families a restful and joyful Christmas break and I look forward to welcoming you all back in the new year on Monday, January 5, 2026 (No INSET).
