We have agreed with SCL that we will carry out an initial 'likely uptake' survey. Please can you complete the attached survey and return to school by Tuesday 16th July.
We’re pleased to announce that Northmead is introducing a new, more efficient and secure system for reporting your child’s absence due to illness, called Studybugs.
Our wellbeing focus this week is - Connect
Taking notice means being present in the moment; observing what’s beautiful or unusual in the world. It means being aware of our thoughts and feelings. It means savouring the moment.
This week our wellbeing focus is Keep Learning. With this in mind our children will be trying out different activities during the week- both children and teachers will be learning something new. In addition, Year 5 will be enjoying many new learning experiences during their PGL trip. Our Sports captains will be running games on the playground at lunchtime for children to try out and there is a quiz in the library- organised by Mrs Cawthorne - for the children to take part in.
Our wellbeing focus this week is GIVE. Giving to others and co-operating with them can stimulate the reward areas in the brain, creating positive feelings.
Being active is important for both our physical and mental health. Small changes in levels of activity can make a big difference. Just ten minutes of physical activity has been shown to be beneficial for mental wellbeing.
Athena Schools Trust
Athena Schools Trust On 1st September 2018, Northmead Junior School converted to academy status and joined a multi-academy trust called the Athena Schools Trust.
As you may be aware, it is government policy to encourage and support all schools to become academies by 2022, and in particular for schools to organise themselves within groups. At the same time, local authorities are reducing the services that they have available to schools as their budgets are reduced. For instance, from April 2018 a number of key services such as school improvement will no longer be provided by Surrey County Council.
