As we continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of our pupils, we’d like to remind everyone of a few important safety guidelines. Please take a moment to read through these points and encourage your child to follow them for their own safety.
Why is it important to put down your phone when your child is reading to you?
As parents, we all know how important it is to support our children's reading and learning. One of the most special moments is when your child reads aloud to you. It’s a chance for them to practice, build confidence, and bond with you. However, if you’re distracted by your mobile phone during these moments, your child will be missing out on your full support.
A very kind parent has organised a petition with Surrey County Council to improve the road safety outside the school on Grange Road to include re-painting of the road markings, double yellow lines on both side of Grange Road outside the school and flashing school warning signs in both directions.

We are thrilled to inform you that Northmead Junior and Stoughton Infant School have been successful in our attempt to secure a Guinness World Record for the “Most People Performing Jazz Hands”, with a total of 544 participants, surpassing the previous record by over a hundred people.
At Northmead we understand the importance of children engaging with the natural world. In a world increasingly dominated by technology, time spent outdoors cultivates resilience, social skills, and a sense of wonder, and there is a lot of research which cites the benefits of the natural world for children’s mental health. Initially, we pushed the outdoor teaching agenda in the lower school at Northmead, led by Mr Lewis. To support this learning, there are so many beautiful books published about nature which open up a world of wonder, igniting children’s curiosity. There are some incredible non-fiction books produced for children which combine interesting text with the most beautiful illustrations. Children can explore these over and over again.
