As a school, we are planning to run the 5,700 miles from Surrey to Rio in preparation for this year’s Olympic Games.  The run starts on Friday June 17^th and will finish on Friday 8^th July.  Research has shown that regular physical exercise improves attitudes to learning and behaviour so this activity will have positive improvements for the children as well as being a fun activity linked to increasing their geographical skills.

Teachers will timetable this one mile run (7 laps of the school playground) into the school day and classes will run or walk together.  Children will only need to change their footwear to complete the run.

If the weather is warm, please ensure your child has a water bottle and hat in school.  Sun cream applied before they leave home is also very helpful.
