Welcome to Year 3

We would like to wish you and your child a big, warm welcome to Northmead Junior School. Year 3 is a special stage in your child's education. Importantly, it is a time when they start to grow their social, moral and creative skills as well as develop a real hunger to learn. That's why we hold our school motto of 'Try more, learn more, achieve more!' so close to our hearts. We hope that your child will be very happy this year.

If you have any concerns, please come and chat to us after school (check with the school office first to make sure we are available).

Routines and Reminders

Reading Homework - Hand in your reading record signed 3 times by an adult every Monday. 

Spellings and Times Tables are to be practised throughout the week for a weekly test, tables on a Friday and Spelling on a Monday. You should say how you have worked on these via Google Classroom by Monday morning. 

Topic Homework is set half termly in the form of an extended project from November onwards. 

Indoor PE takes place on Monday afternoons and Games is Tuesday afternoons - Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on both of these days. No earrings or jewelry allowed and hair must be tied back. 

Swimming Lessons - These will take place in the Autumn Term for 3B, Spring Term for 3R and Summer Term for 3N, on a Monday afternoon. Further details including payment information to follow. 

Music Lessons - Children will learn recorder as part of the Year 3 curriculum but if you wish to sign up for an additional instrument, please click on curriculum, music and follow the links to Surrey Arts and Rock and Pop for further information. 

Trips and Visitors- subject to change (just for a heads up!) 

Rock, Fossil and Volcano Workshop 4th October - £7 approx.

Wisley Gardens Trip 24th January - £10 approx.

Maya Workshop 20th  March - NST funded 

Swimming Monday Afternoon, 3B Autumn, 3R Spring and 3N Summer.£8 a week approx. 

Butser Ancient Farm Trip 21st June - £30 approx.
